Senior Soil Technician

About the role

The Senior Soil Technician will perform laboratory and field testing in line with Australian and Main Roads standards. This role supports engineering projects by ensuring accurate test results, compliance with regulations, and timely reporting to clients and supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out soil and construction material testing according to Australian (AS1289, AS1012, AS1141) and Main Roads standards.
• Identify and report non‑conformances to supervisors or managers.
• Enter test data and generate reports under the relevant scopes of accreditation.
• Perform daily equipment checks and maintain calibration records.
• Comply with all licensing requirements (state/federal) and company policies, including OH&S and laboratory quality manuals.
• Provide courteous service to clients, ensuring their interests align with company standards.
• Schedule, undertake, and finalize engineering site inspections as requested by clients.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Construction Materials Testing.
• Minimum three (3) years experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Current Nuclear Density Gauge Licence (Queensland).
• White Card (Construction Card) and a current driver’s licence.
• Demonstrated experience conducting tests to AS1289, AS1012, TMR or AS1141 standards.

Required skills

• Testing to AS1289, AS1012, TMR, and AS1141 specifications.
• Operation of a Nuclear Density Gauge.
• Accurate data entry and test reporting.
• Routine equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Australian and Main Roads regulatory requirements.
