Senior Software Engineer – AWS, Terraform, APIs

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Cuscal’s Data Domain. You will design, build and maintain cloud‑native solutions that power Australia’s payments ecosystem, impacting millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical specifications and low‑level design documents aligned with user requirements.
• Design and develop applications on Cuscal’s AWS platform using serverless and container services.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and use Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform) to provision AWS resources.
• Analyse, design, develop and test software solutions following approved IT standards and best‑practice methodologies.
• Adhere to architecture, design, implementation and security standards.
• Create reusable software building blocks to accelerate delivery.
• Write high‑quality code that meets customer needs and coding standards.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience with Java or NodeJS, front‑end frameworks such as React or Angular, and HTML/CSS.
• Hands‑on experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps tooling (Bamboo, GitHub).
• Strong knowledge of Terraform for IaC and core AWS services (EC2, Lambda, S3, etc.).
• Experience building and designing micro‑services (RESTful) and applying SOLID design principles.
• Track record of working in a DevOps‑driven team.
