Senior Site Facilities Manager

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a proactive Senior Site Facilities Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operation of its Brisbane site. The role will ensure that all facility services – from reception and security to building maintenance and waste management – run smoothly and support the company’s rail‑technology projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage core facility functions including reception, print centre, classroom training, vehicle fleet, physical security, catering, mailing, waste management and contractor coordination.
• Identify and mitigate risks, monitor performance and ensure compliance with contracts.
• Assess space requirements, contribute to budgeting, investment planning and long‑term tactical strategies for building and equipment assets.
• Supervise technical contractors, verify service delivery against contract terms and translate technical issues into business requirements.
• Plan and oversee cleaning, catering, security, utilities and environmental services for office and industrial premises.
• Prepare contract documentation, monitor performance and manage projects involving new installations or refurbishments.
• Develop cost calculations, investment plans and ensure procurement at optimal rates and quality.
• Support disaster, life‑safety and fire‑safety programmes and maintain asset registers to maximise asset lifespan.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities or site management within a large, multicultural organisation.
• Strong understanding of building operating systems and ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues.
• Experience in risk management, budgeting and strategic planning for facilities.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and ensure service quality.
• Knowledge of sustainability targets, energy rating and asset lifecycle management.
