Senior Civil Engineer – Prequalification Systems

About the role

The Senior Engineer (Civil) will provide specialist advice and technical support for managing TMR’s pre‑qualification systems that underpin the delivery of road infrastructure projects. This permanent role works closely with project managers and directors to ensure that procurement and design processes meet government policies, legislative requirements and value‑for‑money objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support project teams by applying and maintaining pre‑qualification systems for infrastructure projects.
• Develop and update documentation to align with government policies, technical standards and legal requirements.
• Provide high‑level engineering input on material, resource and system selection to achieve best practice and cost efficiency.
• Advise on procurement, design, contractual issues and contract performance related to supplier pre‑qualification.
• Interpret relevant standards, policies and legislation to guide responsible supplier decisions.
• Identify and implement improvements to pre‑qualification processes based on stakeholder feedback.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure performance management systems support project delivery.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate resource allocation and promote teamwork toward organisational objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in civil engineering, preferably within road infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of government procurement policies, legislative frameworks and engineering standards.
• Proven ability to develop and manage pre‑qualification systems and related documentation.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on value for money.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
