Senior Payroll Officer

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to join its South Melbourne team. You will be responsible for delivering accurate, high‑volume payroll services for both Australia and New Zealand, supporting approximately 4,000 employees.

Key responsibilities

• Process end‑to‑end payroll for Australia and New Zealand on a regular schedule.
• Interpret and apply Awards, Enterprise Agreements, contracts, and payroll legislation.
• Ensure compliance with Australian obligations such as Fair Work, PAYG, STP, superannuation, and leave entitlements.
• Ensure compliance with New Zealand obligations including Employment Relations, PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC levies, and final pay.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations, month‑end and year‑end reporting, and support audit requirements.
• Partner with HR, Finance and business stakeholders to resolve payroll queries and maintain accurate employee data.
• Identify payroll risks, recommend process improvements and provide expert advice across the business.

Required profile

• 5+ years of end‑to‑end payroll experience in a high‑volume environment.
• Proven experience processing payroll in both Australia and New Zealand.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll systems such as Chris21/iChris, Workday or Kronos.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex payroll legislation and industrial instruments.
