Senior Data Engineer - Azure Databricks, dbt, Kimball

About the role

A quintessentially Australian brand is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver its clients' enterprise data platform. The role uses Azure Databricks, SQL, dbt and Azure Data Factory, and involves leading data architecture, building scalable pipelines and models, and helping set the foundations for analytics, reporting and future AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Run data engineering activities across ingestion, transformation, orchestration and data serving.
• Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines with Azure Databricks, dbt and Azure Data Factory.
• Own and continuously improve the enterprise data platform with modern Azure data technologies.
• Apply Kimball dimensional modelling principles to deliver trusted, scalable data solutions.
• Develop and support Lakehouse, Delta Lake and Medallion architectures.
• Build data assets supporting reporting, analytics and AI, and support production platforms through monitoring, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Work with BI, Analytics, Data Science and Technology teams so data is structured for business use.
• Improve data quality, governance and engineering maturity, and turn business requirements into practical data solutions.

Required profile

• Strong experience across Azure Databricks, dbt and Kimball dimensional modelling.
• Experience building scalable ETL/data pipelines and dimensional data models for analytics and reporting.
• Ability to translate business needs into high-performing data solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influence skills.
