Senior Associate - Banking & Finance

About the role

Clayton Utz is recruiting a Senior Associate for its Banking & Finance team in Sydney, working closely with partners Alex Schlosser and Kate O'Donovan on some of the largest and most complex financing transactions in the market. The team regularly advises on acquisition finance, leveraged buyouts and large-scale corporate syndicated lending, with clients ranging from private equity sponsors and investment banks to corporate borrowers.

As a senior member of the team you will take a lead role in challenging work with regular client access, build your own profile under the mentorship of senior partners, and supervise and develop junior lawyers while contributing to business development and client relationship activities such as pitches and thought leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years' post-admission experience, gained at a top-tier or leading international law firm
• Proven ability to manage transactions and client relationships with a solid degree of autonomy
• Commercial, solutions-focused approach and a collaborative working style with a genuine interest in developing junior talent

Required skills

• Strong technical grounding in banking and finance law, with specific experience in leveraged and/or acquisition finance
• Very strong drafting and negotiation skills
