Retail Project Manager

About the role

Metcash is seeking an experienced Retail Project Manager to lead the delivery of new store developments, refurbishments, and fit‑outs across its retail network. You will partner with retailers, builders, designers and internal stakeholders to bring independent stores to life from concept to opening.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end retail development projects, including new store openings, refurbishments and fit‑outs.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, tender processes and contractor performance.
• Coordinate architects, builders, landlords, retailers and internal teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Develop project scopes, review plans and oversee construction through to completion.
• Support equipment procurement and engage with Metcash‑endorsed suppliers.
• Ensure stores are fully operational for launch, covering layouts, equipment, signage and stock readiness.

Required profile

• Significant project management experience within retail, FMCG, construction, fit‑out or refurbishment environments.
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction processes and project delivery methodologies.
• Ability to interpret plans and technical drawings.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects, budgets and timelines simultaneously.
• A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach with a passion for delivering results.
