Registered Nurse – Mental Health Services (Westmead Hospital)

About the role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Mental Health Services team at Westmead Hospital. In this permanent, full-time position you will deliver holistic, recovery-focused care to consumers across the mental health spectrum, working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence-based, person-centred clinical care to individuals with acute and ongoing mental health needs.
• Build therapeutic relationships with consumers, families and carers, promoting recovery and participation in care.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated services and contribute to innovative care models.
• Uphold the NSW Mental Health Act 2007 and apply trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practices.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Completion of a new graduate RN program or relevant nursing experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with acute mental health presentations.
• Strong reasoning, autonomous decision-making and effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007 and a commitment to recovery and trauma-informed care.
• Valid NSW driver’s licence.
