Registered Nurse – Infection Control (ADF)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to lead infection control activities across the Australian Defence Force health network. The role blends infection prevention expertise with core public‑health functions such as case investigation, contact tracing and outbreak management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead communicable‑disease surveillance, case investigations and contact‑tracing across the ADF health system.
• Support outbreak detection, risk assessment and coordinated response planning at a system level.
• Provide expert advice on infection‑prevention risks and mitigation strategies to senior stakeholders.
• Prepare high‑quality reports, situation updates and epidemiological briefings.
• Liaise with Defence units, public‑health authorities and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated responses.
• Contribute to policy development, preparedness planning and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care, primary health care or a military setting.
• At least 2 years recent experience in a dedicated infection‑control role (within the last 5 years).
• Post‑graduate qualification (Certificate or Diploma) in Infection Control.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009) and Australian citizenship (baseline security clearance).
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient‑centred care.
