About the role
Seven Media Group (SMG), one of Australia's largest media companies covering television, audio, publishing and digital, is looking for a motivated journalist to join its regional News Team in Canberra. The role involves gathering, editing and presenting local news stories in a composed, accurate and engaging way, within a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Key responsibilities
- Gather, edit and present compelling local news stories
- Break stories and create engaging content
- Maintain positive relationships with key people and organisations
- Represent the company professionally and courteously
Required profile
- Proven journalism and editorial experience
- Solid understanding of media law and ethics
- Competence in TV news scriptwriting
- Experience in a newsroom and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and roster flexibility, including some weekend work and extra hours when needed
