Regional Director, Kimberley, Pilbara & South West

About the role

We are looking for a relationship‑focused leader to provide strategic direction for heritage services across the Kimberley, Pilbara and South West regions of Western Australia. The Regional Director will work closely with Traditional Owners, local communities, government agencies and industry partners to achieve positive cultural heritage outcomes in remote and regional settings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality heritage outcomes.
• Build and maintain trust‑based relationships with Traditional Owners, community groups, government bodies and industry stakeholders.
• Develop and promote the vision for the Heritage Services directorate in line with community values and government priorities.
• Facilitate negotiated solutions and collaborative approaches to complex heritage issues.
• Ensure compliance with current and emerging Aboriginal heritage legislation and best practice.
• Represent the department in regional forums, meetings and public consultations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading and managing teams in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Significant knowledge of Aboriginal heritage trends and related environmental contexts.
• Ability to develop strategic vision and promote it to diverse stakeholder groups.
• Relevant qualification or extensive experience in Aboriginal heritage, heritage conservation, environmental science, project management or public policy.
• Demonstrated leadership behaviours aligned with the department’s values of integrity, respect, collaboration, professionalism and innovation.
