Project Cost Controller

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking a Project Cost Controller to join its Sydney team, supporting the Central‑West Orana Renewable Energy Zone transmission project. You will be responsible for accurate cost reporting, budget monitoring and financial analysis of staff and indirect costs, ensuring the project stays on track financially.

Key responsibilities

• Track cost to date, forecast to complete, earned value and identify risks and opportunities across staff and indirect costs.
• Review forecast assumptions and contingency allowances, spot trends early and flag emerging issues.
• Prepare internal cost transfers and monthly accruals.
• Present monthly cost performance to internal management with clear reporting.
• Explain budget variances, drive mitigation actions and capture opportunities to support management decisions.
• Collaborate with budget owners, challenge assumptions and set stretch targets to improve financial outcomes.
• Support the Finance department and wider project team in meeting reporting deadlines.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications in a related discipline or equivalent knowledge.
• Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, able to work collaboratively across stakeholder groups.
• Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
• Strong multi‑tasking skills and ability to meet predetermined timeframes.
