Production Operator – Propellant Manufacturing

About the role

Thales is seeking a Production Operator to join its Propellant Manufacturing team in Benalla. The role supports the production of high‑performance propellants and explosives for defence and commercial applications, working in a highly regulated environment where safety and quality are paramount.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and repetitive manual tasks involved in propellant production.
• Safely handle chemicals, raw materials and equipment according to established procedures.
• Operate manufacturing equipment while maintaining a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with team members across shift patterns to meet production targets.
• Adhere to quality standards and document processes as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a production or manufacturing setting, preferably in a chemical or munitions environment.
• Ability to work on a rotating shift roster and follow strict safety protocols.
• Physical capability to lift, push, pull and reach frequently while performing manual tasks.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility for Defence security clearance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of wastewater treatment or bio‑remediation processes (valued).
• Experience with chemical handling and waste decontamination.
