Process Technician - Entry Level (Laboratory Assistant / Mineralogy Technician)

About the role

ALS Metallurgy is looking for enthusiastic Laboratory Assistants and Mineralogy Technicians to join its team in Balcatta or Wangara. This is a casual position of up to 75 hours per fortnight with shift work (day/afternoon shifts for the Laboratory Assistant role); training is provided and there is a view to permanent full-time employment after a period of service. It is not a FIFO mine site position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical test work procedures safely and successfully to meet client expectations
• Assist the Area Supervisor and Team Leaders with bench test work procedures
• Take part in the sample preparation process
• Follow procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard
• Keep accurate records, capture and process control samples
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the workplace

Required profile

• Ability to undertake shift work as required
• Previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles is highly regarded
• Exposure to mine site test work is ideal; knowledge of mineral processing or equipment operation is highly beneficial but not essential
• Good mechanical aptitude is highly desirable
• Must be eligible to work in Australia (citizen or permanent resident, or hold or be able to obtain a valid working visa)

• Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks
