Patient Services Assistant

About the role

Werribee Mercy Hospital, a public hospital in the western suburbs of Melbourne, is seeking a qualified and experienced Patient Services Assistant to join its Food & Environmental Department management team. The role is part-time, with the ability to cover day, afternoon and night shifts on a Monday to Sunday roster, and is based at the hospital. It is described as a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure Victorian Public Health cleaning standards are met.
• Ensure food safety standards are met.
• Work in a busy, fast-paced environment and deliver patient-centred care.

Required profile

• Health Services Assistant Certificate III, or equivalent, or working towards it.
• Current Food Handling Certificate.
• Experience in a hospital, hotel or cleaning sector is desirable.
• Commitment to policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Ability to supervise and train staff to appropriate standards.
• Resilience, compassion and strong customer service skills.

Required skills

• Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
• Ability to understand patients' diet codes.
• Ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and work collaboratively.

Candidates must obtain or be in the process of obtaining:

• A current Police Record Check and a Working with Children Check.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
