About the role
We are looking for a skilled Multi‑Skilled Labourer to join Glenorchy City Council’s civil team. You will help deliver high‑quality construction and maintenance on council roads, drainage systems and other civil infrastructure while working safely and efficiently in a collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and clear worksites for civil construction projects.
- Maintain and construct roads, drainage assets and related civil structures.
- Carry out earthworks, concreting, asphalt works, formwork and pipe laying.
- Operate small plant and equipment such as compactors and rollers safely.
- Drive rigid motor vehicles up to 15 tonnes GVM.
- Implement traffic control procedures to protect the public and workers.
- Read and interpret construction plans and record “as‑constructed” data.
- Adhere to Work Health and Safety standards at all times.
Required profile
- Certificate III in Civil Construction or 5‑10 years recent industry experience.
- Traffic Management Accreditation (RIIWHS205E and RIIWHS302E).
- Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence.
- White Card (construction induction).
- Strong experience operating small plant and equipment for road maintenance.
- Good literacy, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Required skills

- Operation of rigid motor vehicles up to 15 t GVM.
- Earthworks, concreting, asphalt laying, formwork and pipe laying.
- Traffic control implementation and management.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans.
