Legal Counsel - Property & Asset Management

About the role

A growing Australian property group with a large portfolio of commercial investments is looking for a senior-level lawyer to report to the General Counsel. The role sits within an experienced team and acts as the primary legal support to the Head of Asset Management, advising on the property portfolio across acquisitions, development, investment, asset management and property operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and coordinate leases, licences, approvals, insurance, service agreements and property and facilities management arrangements
• Support acquisitions, mergers, divestments, corporate structures, acquisition and property finance arrangements
• Advise on property development and construction projects
• Review commercial agreements such as supplier and purchasing agreements
• Advise on regulatory and compliance requirements and provide company secretarial support

Required profile

• Lawyer with 5+ years of post-qualification experience
• Significant property and asset management experience, ideally with exposure to M&A, divestments, corporate structuring, financing arrangements, construction and commercial contracts
• Ability to understand commercial objectives and turn legal issues into practical business advice
• Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple transactions and stakeholders at once
• Proactive, takes ownership of matters from start to finish
