Lecturer, Film (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

Western Sydney University seeks a part‑time Lecturer in Film to join the School of Arts. The role is fixed‑term until 31 December 2028 and offers flexible working arrangements on the Parramatta South Campus.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, design, deliver and evaluate undergraduate Film units, including assessment and feedback.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement for the Film program.
• Maintain an active research or practice‑led profile and produce scholarly or creative outputs.
• Supervise Honours and higher degree research students and identify potential HDR candidates.
• Build and sustain relationships with industry, festivals, cultural institutions and professional networks.
• Participate in School, Faculty and University service activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Film, Screen Media or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience with recognised artistic distinction.
• Demonstrated university‑level teaching experience with engaging delivery.
• Emerging or established research and creative practice record, including publications or recognised creative works.
• Expertise in creative practice areas such as production, storytelling, theory, global cinemas or emerging media.

What we offer

• 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours/week) with pro‑rated salary $61,663.50 – $72,812.50 per annum.
