Leader of Teaching & Learning - Middle School

About the role

Edmund Rice Flexi School in Elizabeth is seeking an experienced educational leader to join as Leader of Teaching and Learning for the Middle School (Years 7-9). Reporting to the Head of Campus and working closely with campus and regional leaders, the role leads teaching and learning across Years 7-9 while maintaining a 0.5FTE teaching load. It aims to develop high-quality, inclusive and engaging programs for young people who have experienced educational disengagement. The position is full-time, fixed term, starting January 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Lead curriculum, assessment, reporting and pedagogical practice across Years 7-9
• Support teachers in delivering differentiated learning aligned with ACARA v9
• Drive literacy and numeracy initiatives and evidence-based teaching practices
• Use student data to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes
• Support curriculum planning, moderation and reporting processes
• Coordinate professional learning and curriculum development for teaching and support staff
• Work with campus leadership to strengthen educational pathways for young people

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting
• Relevant teaching qualifications and significant teaching experience
• Experience working with young people facing complex educational challenges
• Working with Children Check (DHS clearance) and SAVA clearance, and a current driver's licence
• Commitment to the values of a Catholic educational system in the Edmund Rice tradition

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, teaching and learning practices
• Ability to lead improvement initiatives and support staff development
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
