Kin Care Practitioner (Regional Relocation)

About the role

Tradewind Australia is recruiting a Kin Care Practitioner for a community-focused organisation in the South Burnett region, working within its Partners in Foster Care team. The position is based in Wondai, about three hours from Brisbane, and suits someone currently based in Brisbane who wants to move to regional Queensland. It is a full-time permanent position in Child Protection and Human Services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and support suitable kinship care arrangements for children and young people.
• Undertake assessments and facilitate the approval of kinship carers.
• Provide ongoing case management, guidance and practical support to kinship carers.
• Help children and young people stay connected with their family, culture and community.
• Work with families, Child Safety and other stakeholders to strengthen family connections and placement stability.
• Monitor placements and promote the safety, stability and wellbeing of children.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and comply with legislation, policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Ideally experience in Child Protection, Foster Care, Kinship Care or a related Human Services environment.
• Diploma-level qualification or higher in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Social Work or a related discipline.
• Understanding of the Child Protection Act and relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Strong assessment, case management and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Commitment to cultural safety and respectful work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities.
• Flexibility to meet operational requirements, including an on-call roster.

What we offer

• Salary of AU$90,000 to AU$99,000 per year plus superannuation.
