About the role
The Human Resources Coordinator will lead and coordinate day‑to‑day HR activities for Barunga West Council. Reporting to the Manager Governance, Community and Development, this broad‑based generalist role supports managers and employees across the entire employee lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice, guidance and support on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations and workforce matters.
- Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment activities, induction processes and employee lifecycle administration.
- Assist managers with performance management, workplace investigations and interpretation of employment legislation.
- Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures and employment frameworks to ensure compliance.
- Support injured workers, rehabilitation programs and return‑to‑work plans in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify training needs, coordinate development initiatives and help build organisational capability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and organisational practices.
Required profile
- Experience in a generalist HR role covering recruitment, performance management, employee relations and policy compliance.
- Knowledge of employee relations, industrial instruments and employment practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build trust across all organisational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with managers and staff.
