Hire Controller

About the role

A recognised supplier of hire equipment to major Australian construction sites is looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Hire Controller to join its team in inner-city Melbourne. The role coordinates equipment and consumables, manages job costing and invoicing, and builds strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the supply of consumables, tools and hire equipment to meet project needs.
• Liaise with foremen, engineers, project managers, suppliers and other stakeholders to identify and source suitable equipment.
• Respond to equipment and hire requests by phone, email and in person in a timely and professional way.
• Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, project billing and hire equipment cost allocation.
• Maintain accurate records and data across databases and systems, including repair records and databases, with repair costs allocated to the right projects.
• Generate stock, hire and analysis reports for management and stakeholders.
• Assist with the day-to-day coordination and oversight of store operations.
• Build relationships with internal teams and external suppliers, support colleagues and take on additional duties as directed.

Required profile

• Experience in equipment hire, logistics, construction or stores coordination.
• Experience with job costing, project billing and invoicing.
• Experience using large databases, inventory systems or work management systems.
• Knowledge of tools, consumables and equipment used in construction or industrial environments.
• Previous experience with QuickTrans and/or Eproc is highly regarded.
