Head of Department – Home Economics

About the role

The Queensland Department of Education is seeking a dynamic leader to head the Home Economics department at Kirwan State High School. This permanent position will guide curriculum delivery, inspire staff and students, and build strong industry and community connections to enhance student pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and instructional leadership for Food Technology and Design Technologies.
• Strengthen curriculum implementation and ensure compliance with the Australian Curriculum.
• Develop and expand industry partnerships, vocational pathways and the Gateway to Industry Schools Program.
• Support staff capability development through coaching, mentoring and professional learning.
• Lead innovation and change to create authentic, engaging learning experiences.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading curriculum and teaching in Food Technology and/or Design Technologies.
• Strong organisational, communication and strategic planning abilities.
• Demonstrated success in coordinating industry partnerships and vocational programs.
• Commitment to collaborative practice, continuous improvement and student achievement.
