Head of Business Development – ANZ
Employeur non precise · Melbourne
Job description
About the role
A senior, hands-on commercial role for the ANZ region of an established B2B payments technology business, reporting directly to the CEO. The candidate will own the regional number, lead the largest enterprise deals personally and build the business development team and partner channel that scales growth. The opportunity is described as remote-first, with a stated OTE of $300k plus super and private healthcare.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver Australia and New Zealand payment volume and revenue targets, own the forecast and communicate it clearly and consistently.
- Lead complex enterprise sales with senior finance, treasury and procurement stakeholders, building a case around working capital, payment control and operational efficiency.
- Hire, coach and lead the business development team, setting expectations and maintaining strong pipeline and forecast discipline.
- Turn relationships with card networks, banks, payment providers and software platforms into a steady source of qualified opportunities.
- Structure pricing and deal terms that win the right business while protecting deal economics.
- Sharpen the commercial story as customer needs, payment practices and market conditions change.
Required profile
- Experienced B2B payments or enterprise fintech leader who has carried a meaningful number and won complex deals.
- Strong record of delivering enterprise revenue, ideally while building a market or scaling an early revenue base.
- Experience hiring and leading quota-carrying sellers, with a clear approach to coaching, performance and forecasting.
- Credibility with senior finance, treasury and procurement stakeholders in Australia and New Zealand.
- Sound commercial judgement to build trust, structure good deals and avoid selling beyond what the product can deliver.
Required skills
- B2B payments, commercial cards, transaction banking or enterprise fintech experience.
- Understanding of commercial card economics and how to explain the working-capital case to a finance leader.
- Valuable: experience with card-based supplier payments, payment-provider partnerships or enterprise software channels.
The role is a player-coach position: in the first six months the candidate stays close to the deals and closes them, then shifts impact to the team, partnerships and sales rhythm. Applications are made through the recruiter's contact form or by email.
