Graduate Social Worker – Mental Health
mercyagedcare · Mercy Mental Health Wyndham Health Clinic
Job description
About the role
Mercy Health is offering a part-time, fixed-term 12-month contract (0.8 EFT, 64 hours per fortnight) for a Graduate Social Worker within its 2-year Allied Health Mental Health Graduate Program. The program is part of a broader inter-professional learning program that gives graduates time to consolidate their skills in a supportive environment, with support, quality feedback and structured training. The position suits a clinician with previous mental health experience who wants to develop their skills further.
The role is rotational across the Wyndham and Hobson's Bay areas, with opportunities to build skills in bed-based, residential/rehabilitation and community settings, and potential for shift work in the second year. It starts on 8 February 2027 and runs until 4 February 2028.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, client-focused social work interventions to clients, their families and carers, using a holistic, recovery-oriented, strengths-based and culturally sensitive approach.
- Work in a supportive multi-disciplinary team and deliver responsive, flexible service to consumers and carers in a high-growth metropolitan mental health program.
- Take part in a thorough orientation, paid study days, structured internal and external training, discipline-specific clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions.
Required profile
- Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care, with excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills.
- A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to patient care, and the ability to build respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team.
- An approved degree in Social Work and current or eligible registration with the AASW.
- Ability to obtain a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders, and full Australian working rights.
- Full driver's licence, particularly for the second-year community rotation.
