Fixed Plant Operator

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking an experienced Fixed Plant Operator to join its high‑performing team in Wickham. The role follows a 5/5/4 days‑only residential roster and focuses on safe, reliable plant operation while supporting a collaborative, safety‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate fixed‑plant equipment safely to meet daily production targets and KPIs.
• Utilise safety tools such as the STS App, CCC and pre‑task hazard assessments each day.
• Run dumpers, conveyors, stackers, reclaimers and shiploaders.
• Self‑manage assigned sequences and daily tasks.
• Perform wash‑down activities to maintain plant hygiene and shut‑wash requirements.
• Conduct shore‑side mooring operations.
• Communicate effectively with OC Controllers and other stakeholders.
• Complete quality handovers to incoming teams.
• Identify and capture defects of port assets via Paperless Maintainer or SAP notifications.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to personal and team safety.
• Minimum two years of fixed‑plant experience with shiploaders, crushers, screens, conveyors, reclaimers, dumpers and stackers.
• Experience operating D10/D11 dozers (advantageous).
• Current WA Manual C Class driver’s licence.
• Current or eligibility to obtain a MSIC.
• Ability to work in line with Rio Tinto values and behaviours.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.
