Finance Officer

About the role

Join Mackay Regional Council as a Finance Officer, supporting the finance team with day‑to‑day and month‑end tasks to ensure accurate and well‑managed financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Process journals and perform general financial data entry.
• Monitor income and expenditure against the general ledger.
• Confirm correct job numbers and coding with internal stakeholders.
• Manage invoicing for MECC shows and other allocated activities.
• Update financial charts and records in line with approved changes.

Required profile

• Qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce or Accounting, or current study in one of these areas.
• Eligibility for CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ membership is highly regarded.
• Experience in bookkeeping, finance administration or management accounting.
• Experience supporting budgeting, project costing, journal processing and maintaining financial data.
• Proficiency with accounting or finance systems and a detail‑focused, organised approach.
