About the role

Join SMEC, a global consultancy delivering iconic infrastructure projects, as an Experienced Engineer – Roads & Highways. You will lead design and project management activities on small to medium‑scale transport projects across Queensland, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality analysis and design outcomes aligned with technical standards and client requirements.
• Undertake key technical tasks across multiple projects independently.
• Apply project management principles to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
• Prepare technical reports and proposals for small to medium projects.
• Monitor scope and risk while using business systems effectively.
• Build and manage strong client relationships, both internal and external.
• Collaborate within a diverse, multi‑disciplinary team environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in roads and highways design.
• Solid understanding of relevant Australian Standards and specifications.
• Strong project management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information.
