Executive Director Operations

About the role

Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD), part of NSW Health, is seeking an Executive Director Operations to lead clinical operations and performance across the district and help shape its next phase of growth. The role reports to the Chief Executive and sits within the Operations Directorate, which oversees hospitals, Integrated and Community Health, Drug Health, Oral Health, Mental Health Services and Clinical Networks. The district serves over a million people across Western Sydney, has 14,000 staff, a $2.9bn budget and more than 70 sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice and counsel to the Chief Executive, the executive team and the Board.
• Lead and deliver strategic and operational plans, policy development, business strategy and clinical service design as part of the executive leadership team.
• Provide executive leadership and oversight of hospitals and health services across the district through 12 direct reports.
• Elevate financial and operational performance, sharing responsibility for a $2.9bn budget.
• Lead stakeholder relationships with clinicians, academics, support staff, NSW Ministry of Health, PHNs, NGOs and other partners.
• Foster a culture of innovation, quality improvement and patient safety.

Required profile

• Senior health executive with extensive leadership experience in a large, complex organisation delivering health services.
• Natural collaborator who builds trust with clinicians, general managers, operations staff, government and community partners.
• Strong financial acumen and excellent governance capabilities.
• Ability to balance day-to-day operations with long-term strategy.
