Director of Events

About the role

Lead the future of events in one of Australia’s fastest‑growing cities. Reporting to the CEO, the Director – Events will shape the strategy and delivery of major events, sport, festivals, business conferences and the upcoming Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games across the City of Moreton Bay.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic direction and growth of TEMB’s events portfolio.
• Attract and develop major events, sport fixtures and MICE opportunities.
• Identify future‑focused initiatives linked to Brisbane 2032.
• Grow business events and convention pipelines throughout Moreton Bay.
• Lead, mentor and build a high‑performing Events team.
• Forge strong partnerships with industry, sponsors, government and community stakeholders.
• Oversee event planning, governance, budgets, risk management and operational performance.
• Contribute to broader organisational leadership, destination growth and economic development.

Required profile

• Significant leadership experience in events, destination management, tourism or related industries.
• Proven track record delivering or overseeing major events, festivals, sporting or business events.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, partnerships and event investment.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building abilities.
• Collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing teams.
• Strategic thinker balanced with operational detail orientation.
• Genuine passion for creating memorable visitor and community experiences.
