Dental Assistant / Receptionist

About the role

Maven Dental Cairns North, an established four-chair practice with over 30 years of dental care, is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join its team on a permanent full-time basis. The role combines chairside assisting with reception and patient coordination, and offers Monday to Friday hours with no weekend work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to clinicians across a range of dental procedures
• Support surgical extractions, implant placements, Invisalign and general dentistry
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and equipment in line with infection control standards
• Welcome patients and create a positive, friendly experience
• Manage appointment bookings, patient enquiries and payments
• Maintain accurate patient records and complete general administrative duties
• Work closely with the wider team to keep the practice running smoothly

Required profile

• Confident, organised person who enjoys working in a busy dental practice
• Ideally previous experience as a Dental Assistant, with knowledge of dental procedures, terminology and infection control
• Demonstrated experience independently managing reception duties in a dental practice
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with patients
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Positive, proactive approach, able to work independently and as part of a team
