Catering Manager

About the role

Mercy Health is looking for a Catering Manager for its Villa Maria Hostel in Lesmurdie, Western Australia. The role leads high-quality hospitality services that give residents, families and staff a warm, home-like environment. It reports to the Precinct Manager and oversees catering, housekeeping and laundry services. The schedule is Monday to Friday, alternate weekends, 75 hours per fortnight, with no nights.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee meal preparation and food service, ensuring residents receive nutritious, varied meals that meet health and safety regulations.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that supports staff development and high-quality service.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manage resources efficiently within budget.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance the resident experience.

Required profile

• Certificate in Commercial Cookery.
• Hands-on leadership, able to lead by example in the kitchen when needed.
• Proven experience managing and coaching small teams.
• Experience preparing and cooking for large groups.
• Knowledge of OHS, food safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Aged care experience is desirable but not essential; hotel and restaurant backgrounds are welcomed, with relevant training provided.
• NDIS clearance or a recent police check, or proof of being in the process of obtaining them.

Required skills

• Menu coordination and tailoring meals to diverse dietary needs.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
