Casual Commis Chef

About the role

The Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport, a 315-room hotel near Sydney Domestic Airport, is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Casual Commis Chef to join its Kitchen Team. Working alongside experienced chefs, you will help with food preparation, cooking and service across several outlets, including La Boca Restaurant & Bar, banquets and Room Service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare mise en place and organise workstations for daily service.
• Prepare, cook and present dishes according to standard recipes.
• Assist with food preparation across various kitchen outlets.
• Ensure food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Follow stock rotation procedures and minimise food wastage.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Support the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Required profile

• A recognised qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a similar kitchen role.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to hold, or obtain, a National Police Check.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles.
