Caseload Registered Midwife

About the role

Nepean Hospital, part of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, is recruiting a Registered Midwife for its caseload midwifery team. The role provides continuity of midwifery care, supporting women and their families through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, and builds trusting, ongoing relationships with women. It is open to permanent full-time or part-time employment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement care for a group of women across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period
• Support other staff and take part in continuous midwifery practice development
• Contribute to service evaluation and development with the Nursing Unit Manager of Women and Children's Health Services, supported by the Midwifery Manager, Midwifery Educators and the Clinical Midwifery Consultant
• Exercise professional judgement within an appropriate clinical governance framework

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Midwife Division 1 with AHPRA
• Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care
• Person-centred, family-inclusive and culturally sensitive care
• Ability to organise and prioritise work, and effective written and verbal communication
• Commitment to professional development and willingness to undertake further education
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Willingness to work an on-call model, day, evening or night shifts across all days of the week, including a 24/7 on-call model
