Building & Facilities Manager – Student Accommodation

About the role

We are looking for a Building & Facilities Manager to lead facilities strategy for a flagship purpose‑built student accommodation in Melbourne’s CBD. The site, A'Beckett Street, is a high‑profile PBSA community offering full visibility and influence over facilities operations. The role combines hands‑on maintenance with strategic planning, reporting to the Community Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day facilities operations and ensure a safe, comfortable living environment for residents.
• Perform approximately 30 % of the time hands‑on maintenance tasks across the site.
• Develop and manage the annual facilities budget, including CapEx planning and cost control.
• Select, contract, and supervise external service providers and subcontractors.
• Manage subcontractor performance and service level agreements.
• Plan and execute capital‑expenditure projects to improve building services.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and financial performance.
• Coordinate with the Community Manager to align facilities activities with overall community goals.

Required profile

• Experience in facilities management within residential or student accommodation settings.
• Ability to balance practical maintenance work with strategic budgeting and project planning.
• Strong communication skills to work with internal teams and external contractors.
