Backend API Developer – Sydney

About the role

Infosys is seeking a Backend API Developer to drive transformative technology strategies in Sydney. The role focuses on Java/J2EE development, RESTful services and micro‑service architecture, offering flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java/J2EE based backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Build and support micro‑service solutions using the Spring framework.
• Lead a technical team of 6‑8 engineers, providing guidance on design, coding and testing.
• Perform high‑level and detailed design, coding, debugging, testing and documentation of complex global applications.
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams, contributing to sprint planning and estimation.
• Work with SQL Server databases and ensure data integrity.
• Utilise CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools to automate builds and deployments.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Java/J2EE development.
• Proven experience delivering RESTful services and micro‑service APIs.
• Strong background in Spring framework and SQL Server.
• Hands‑on experience with Agile methodologies and leading technical teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
