About the role

Join the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales as an Associate Professor in Systems. You will be a senior academic leader shaping research and teaching in modern computing systems, driving high‑impact work across operating systems, distributed systems, systems security and machine‑learning systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct nationally and internationally recognised research in computing systems.
• Secure competitive research funding and manage research projects.
• Supervise higher degree research students to successful completion.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching and contribute to curriculum development.
• Participate in strategic initiatives, academic governance and program development.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with industry and academia.
• Mentor emerging researchers and contribute to the School’s research profile.

Required profile

• Established academic with a strong, sustained record of high‑impact research in modern computing systems.
• Growing national or international reputation in areas such as operating systems, distributed systems, systems security or machine‑learning systems.
• Proven ability to obtain research funding and lead research teams.
• Experience supervising higher degree research students.
• Effective educator with experience in teaching and curriculum design.
• Demonstrated leadership within the discipline and collaborative mindset.
