Assistant Accountant

About the role

AutoGrab is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its Finance team in South Yarra. The role offers hands‑on exposure to multi‑entity operations, subscription billing, international payments and month‑end close, reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, manage payment runs across multiple gateways and conduct credit control for accounts payable.
• Generate and issue customer invoices, oversee direct‑debit collections and perform credit control for accounts receivable.
• Prepare month‑end journals, post accruals, pre‑payments and adjustments, and reconcile balance‑sheet items including AP, AR, GST and inter‑company loans.
• Assist with bank and credit‑card reconciliations, staff expense claims and maintain financial records in Xero and Google Drive.
• Support ad‑hoc reporting, finance projects and contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, AP/AR, reconciliations and month‑end processes.
• High attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Clear professional communication and a team‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and data analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems; exposure to NetSuite implementation is desirable.
