Advanced Trainee – General Medicine (2027)

About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking a passionate Advanced Trainee in General Medicine for a 12‑month or 6‑month fixed‑term appointment starting February or August 2027. Working within a structured training program, you will rotate through multiple subspecialties and partner hospitals, gaining comprehensive experience in acute and general medical care.

Key responsibilities

• Rotate through subspecialties such as Intensive Care, Cardiology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Respiratory, Palliative Care, Endocrinology and Rheumatology.
• Complete a 4‑week night rotation as Medical Officer in Charge.
• Collaborate with external sites including the Royal Women’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Albury Wodonga Health, Epworth Richmond and Ballarat Base Hospital.
• Provide supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff.

Required profile

• General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligibility for Provisional Registration via the Competent Authority Pathway.
• Completed Basic Physician Training.
• Successful completion of the FRACP examinations.
• Strong supervision and leadership capabilities.
