Telecommunications Technician – Townsville

About the role

Queensland Rail is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Technician to join its Electronic Repair Centre in Townsville. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing telecommunications and electronic equipment, ensuring safe and effective operation across the rail network.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair telecommunications and electronic equipment to component level according to work programs.
• Perform bench repairs and work on telemetry and remote monitoring devices.
• Travel to field sites across regional Queensland for maintenance and emergency call‑outs.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and reports on work performed and asset condition.
• Adhere to Workplace Health and Safety requirements and legislative policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bench repair of telecommunications equipment.
• Knowledge of telemetry, remote monitoring and radio transmission systems.
• Electronics Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Unrestricted driver’s licence and ability to travel extensively.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and on‑call duties as required.

What we offer

• Base salary $81,000‑$101,000 plus penalties and 12.75% superannuation.
• 9‑day fortnight schedule (Mon‑Fri or Mon‑Thu).
