About the role
The Tenants’ Union of Tasmania is seeking a motivated solicitor to support social justice and tenants’ rights across Launceston and northern Tasmania. This 12‑month contract can be full‑time or part‑time and offers a pro‑rata salary aligned with the relevant award level.
Key responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and assistance to residential tenants.
- Represent tenants in court proceedings and before the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT).
- Contribute to law and policy reform initiatives affecting tenancy rights.
- Deliver legal education and training to members and the community.
Required profile
- Hold a current practising certificate in Tasmania.
- Possess a full, unrestricted driver’s licence.
- Have sufficient post‑admission experience to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be able to operate, or quickly learn, a cloud‑based client management system.
- Comfortable working remotely as part of a team and willing to travel across the state, especially to North‑West Tasmania.
