Senior Process Engineer - Water Infrastructure

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join its Water Infrastructure business in Brisbane. You will work on national multi‑disciplinary projects, applying advanced water and wastewater technologies to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver water infrastructure projects as part of a national multi‑disciplinary team.
• Provide specialist technical input across design, modelling, and optimisation of process engineering.
• Drive innovative engineering outcomes by applying emerging water and wastewater technologies.
• Contribute to proposals, pursuits, and technical strategy development.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on large‑scale infrastructure programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• RPEQ registration or ability to achieve it.
• 7+ years of experience in the water treatment sector, preferably in a consultancy environment.
• Experience in detailed design of water/wastewater treatment, Energy to Waste and waste process management.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
