Senior Financial Accountant (Reporting Team)

About the role

A well-established financial services organisation in Melbourne is looking for a Senior Financial or Management Accountant to join its Reporting team on a 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role combining financial and management reporting, technical accounting, tax and analysis, working with stakeholders to investigate variances and provide financial insights.

Key responsibilities

• Support month-end, half-year and year-end financial reporting processes
• Prepare and analyse management reporting, including variance analysis and commentary
• Investigate discrepancies and work with internal stakeholders to understand key movements
• Maintain financial ledgers and complete balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with tax calculations, analysis and preparation of monthly tax journals
• Support statutory reporting and year-end financial statements
• Liaise with external auditors and advisors as required
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist with broader finance projects

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent
• Experience in financial accounting, management reporting or external audit
• Experience in a listed or complex corporate environment highly regarded
• Strong analytical skills, especially in variance and financial statement analysis
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Exposure to cash flow, liquidity, dividends and share-based payments is advantageous but not essential
