About the role
WorkSafe Queensland is seeking a Senior Inspector (Construction) to join its multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving health and safety outcomes across the state’s high‑risk workplaces. The role offers a structured onboarding programme, on‑the‑job training and mentorship from senior team members, providing a clear pathway to make a tangible difference in worker safety.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and investigations in construction and other high‑risk industrial sites to identify hazards and prevent serious injuries or fatalities.
- Hold non‑compliant businesses accountable by enforcing safety legislation and issuing improvement notices.
- Educate employers and workers on their legal obligations and best‑practice safety measures.
- Influence and promote a strong safety culture across Queensland’s construction sector.
Required profile
- Excellent written communication, time‑management and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
- Practical experience applying safety protocols in operational or regulatory environments, preferably within construction, industrial or other high‑risk settings.
- Resilience and professionalism to manage difficult conversations and navigate challenging situations.
- Confidence engaging with people at all levels, educating, influencing and enforcing compliance when required.
- Genuine commitment to improving safety for Queensland workers.
