Senior Civil Designer - Water Infrastructure

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Senior Civil Designer to lead the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand. The role involves working on major pipelines, pumping stations and advanced treatment plants within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for water infrastructure using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Coordinate design activities, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and client requirements.
• Manage project deliverables, timelines and quality while supporting client relationship management.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate multidisciplinary inputs.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or an Advanced Diploma.
• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in an engineering design consultancy.
• Knowledge of Australian water‑related design standards and regulations.
• Legal right to work in Australia.
