Senior Associate - Corporate & Commercial Litigation

About the role

A boutique law firm with over 15 years' experience, based in Docklands, Melbourne, is seeking an experienced litigator to build and lead its own team within its disputes practice, which focuses on commercial and civil litigation. The Senior Associate runs a caseload independently from initial instruction through to resolution, reporting directly to the Principal Solicitor.

Key responsibilities

• Run a varied caseload across contractual, corporate, insolvency and property disputes
• Appear as advocate in directions hearings, interlocutory applications and mediations
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions and advices to a high standard
• Act as primary client contact and develop new referral relationships
• Supervise, train and develop junior lawyers, graduates and paralegals

Required profile

• Admission to practice in Victoria with a current practising certificate
• Approximately 8-10+ years' PQE, substantially in commercial and civil litigation
• Demonstrated advocacy experience in the Magistrates', County and Supreme Courts and VCAT
• Proven ability to run a caseload autonomously with strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Sound commercial judgement and confidence holding client relationships directly
