Rooms Controller – Front Office

About the role

Join the Front Office team at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour as a Rooms Controller. You will manage daily room inventory, allocate rooms according to guest preferences, VIP needs and operational priorities, and ensure a seamless arrival experience for all guests.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily room inventory, including VIP, group and queue allocations.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering and Sales to maximise room utilisation and readiness.
• Communicate room allocations and updates to relevant departments and guests.
• Update guest profile notes and handle post‑arrival welcome calls.
• Maintain strict security, confidentiality and accurate system records.

Required profile

• Previous Front Office, Rooms Division or hotel operations experience, preferably in a luxury hotel.
• Strong knowledge of room inventory, allocations and Front Office processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills across departments.
• Calm and focused during high occupancy and peak arrival periods.
• Commitment to guest privacy, confidentiality and hotel security procedures.
