Registered Nurse – Critical Care (ICU)

About the role

The Department of Critical Care Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to deliver intensive and high‑dependency care in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment. You will join a team that supports professional development, research, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct intensive care and high‑dependency nursing to a diverse patient population, including cardiac, trauma, ECMO, and complex obstetric cases.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, consumer‑focused care.
• Participate in clinical projects, research activities, and continuous quality‑improvement programs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to NMBA standards and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) and knowledge of relevant standards.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for effective teamwork.
• Understanding of continuous quality‑improvement processes and evidence‑based practice.
• Flexibility to work shift patterns, including full‑time or part‑time arrangements.

Required skills

• ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) knowledge and experience.
