Project Cost Controller

About the role

Nacap, a multi-disciplinary constructor of energy infrastructure, is appointing a Project Cost Controller at its headquarters in Doncaster, Melbourne. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role monitors, controls, forecasts and reports project costs so that projects are delivered within approved budgets, supporting project and commercial teams with accurate, timely cost information.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial and Finance teams to give cost insights and financial guidance.
• Prepare and maintain project cost reports, dashboards and performance metrics for project and senior management.
• Establish, maintain and monitor project cost control systems in line with approved budgets and cost codes.
• Monitor commitments such as subcontractor agreements, purchase orders and variations.
• Ensure variations and change events are captured, costed, approved and reflected in forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, project controls procedures and delegated authorities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes, systems and reporting standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' demonstrated experience as a Project Cost Controller, Cost Engineer or Quantity Surveyor in civil construction, ideally on infrastructure projects.
• Nationally Australian recognised tertiary qualification in Finance or Business, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• Ability and willingness to work on site in remote locations around Australia and/or PNG on an ad-hoc basis.
• Valid Australian driver's licence.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables and financial modelling.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and SharePoint (Word, PowerPoint).
• Cost control, forecasting and analysis against project KPIs.
